Ichiyō School

Ichiyō (一葉式いけ花), meaning “One Leaf” in Japanese, embodies the harmony between nature and human emotion. Founded in 1937 by siblings Ichiyō and Meikof Kasuya, the school encourages each arranger to express their individuality while creating designs that complement their surroundings.
Led today by Iemoto Naohiro Kasuya, the Ichiyō School blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary creativity. Known for pioneering the use of crossing lines and achieving natural balance without a kenzan or komi, Ichiyō arrangements highlight the graceful relationship between materials, space, and form.
With its clear and accessible teaching method, the Ichiyō School welcomes students of all levels to explore the art of ikebana — where nature, balance, and self-expression come beautifully together.
