Mizuhiki Workshop
On 9th Jan 2026, we celebrated the New Year with a festive lunch followed by a hands-on Mizuhki workshop. Together, we learned the basics and created our own decorative knots, and took a moment to enjoy our first gathering in 2026.

Venue: Daiwa Anglo- Japanese Foundation

Mizuhiki is a delicate Japanese art of decorative knotting, rich with cultural meaning. Each knot symbolises gratitude, respect, and the invisible bonds between us, making it especially meaningful during moments of transition and new beginnings. Paired with mizuhiki, ikebana brings a quiet sense of balance and reflection. Through thoughtful arrangements and natural materials, it invites us to slow down, be present, and appreciate the changing seasons.
To welcome the New Year, we gathered for a joyful lunch filled with shared creative spirit. We were honoured to have Sachiko Pearce sensei demonstrate her festive ikebana arrangement adorned with mizuhiki ornaments. It reminded us of the connections that unite us as we step into the year ahead with gratitude and hope.
Guided by Sachiko sensei, we then enjoyed a hands-on mizuhiki workshop, learning both the techniques and the symbolism behind each knot. The calm, meditative rhythm of the practice encouraged focus and reflection.
We wish you a new year filled with peace and joy.
